Mary
Ann Stefanic, owner
of Country Pet Wash in Mountain View, started her life-long adventure
with dogs at 9 years of age when her mom and dad finally relented and took
her to the Humane Society in Harrisburg, PA to adopt a pup. Rebel, a collie
mix, and she were best friends for 14 years. “He, along with my first
book about dogs, The Rin-Tin-Tin Book of Dog Care by Lee Duncan,
which I still have, gave me my start in learning how to be a good canine
companion.” said Mary Ann. “Rebel was brilliant, which allowed
me to be successful in my first attempts at dog training and I never stopped
wanting to learn more about these wonderful creatures.”
All during her 30-year career
as an advertising professional, Mary Ann continued to explore dog behavior and
training: she groomed and handled her Irish Setter, Jake, in conformation; field
trialed with her Gordon Setter, Jack; and learned agility with her present best
friend, Hershey, a German Shorthaired Pointer, adopted 11 years ago at the Santa
Clara Humane Society. Mary Ann also was a Basic Obedience trainer with Petco,
Mountain View.
Mary Ann is a member of the nationwide
ADPT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and the Deep Peninsula Dog
Training Club in Mountain View. Country Pet Wash is a member of the
ASPCA and an ASPCA Guardian Program member.
